Stay away

I am a big st St croix rod fan but the GF series Seviin reels are a huge disappoinment. The line was constantly winding into the spool and I dropped it a small distance and the casting snapped where it connects to the reel. It did not last a year. Stay away!

I love these reels

They are the best reels hands down compared to any other ones out there in the market.

GF 1000 reels

I purchased 2 GF 1000 spinning reels and have put them through the paces over the last few months in varying conditions and presentations for Walleye. At this point, I probably have upwards of 60 hours per reel and they still perform like they just came out of the box. I am very happy with the craftmanship and durability of these reels.
I rigged one reel with 8lb mono and the other with an 8lb braid. Spooling the reels with line, both mono and the braid laid level across the spool and even after thousands of casts and varying retrieving resistance loads. The line on the spool is always perfectly level and this results in excellent casting distances.
One lesson learned worth mentioning, don’t over pack mono on the GF spool. This will lead to line slipping down the spool and then you will end up reeling line up underneath the spool. My first outing in strong winds casting light jigs with my mono reel I encountered line tangles under the spool. The remedy, I trimmed about 15-20 yards off the spool and the problem when away without sacrificing any casting distance. I am now on my second spool of mono on this reel and I have not had this issue happen again. To date, my braid reel has performed flawlessly.
I am impressed with the GF performance, weight, smoothness and drag at this price point. It’s a great reel and I’m hooked, I’ll be purchasing more.

Great Reel at a Great Value

This reel stands up to the test of Great Lakes smallmouth. These fish require a smooth drag, long casts, and durability. This reel provides all 3!

CARBON-FIBER / POLYMER CONSTRUCTION

A molded polymer body infused with carbon fiber greatly increases strength and stiffness. This provides an extremely lightweight body, side cover, and rotor system that’s super rigid and won’t flex under heavy loads. The entire drive train is perfectly aligned to maintain smoothness and sensitivity over time.

SLOW OSCILLATION SYSTEM

The S-Curve design features a super-slow oscillation that ensures line is stacked evenly on the spool resulting in longer casts and fewer line management issues even when using lighter finesse size lines. An internal support guide ensures spool oscillation remains consistent even under heavier drag loads.

BRAID-READY FORGED SPOOL

One-piece forged aluminum spool is machined and hard anodized. The forged design minimizes weight while maintaining strength. A braid band allows the use of braid tied directly to the spool without the need for backing. A unique spool lip design maximizes casting distance by minimizing line contact during the cast.

CARBON FIBER DRAG

The friction washers are made from woven carbon fiber, which is virtually impervious to wear. The carbon washers are mated to stainless steel washers providing a wide drag range with minimal variation to protect against break-offs with lighter lines.
