Never again! Actually zero rating!

Bought 2, one for me, and one for my daughter. I bought them because they were made by St.Croix and made in the USA . I have had my rod for at least 18 years and still love it and just bought a second one and it is great as well. So I bought the seviin reel based off of the quality of the rod. The reason I bought both rod and reel was for a special fishing trip to the elite Yellow Creek Trout Club, which did not disappoint. As I began the day it worked as a reel should but only a half a dozen casts in I noticed my line going under my spool.. didn’t think much of it but then it happened again and again and again.. by the end of the day I literally had no line left in my reel. I spent the majority of what was supposed to be a dream come true fishing trip turn into one of the worst days in a stream that you could ever imagine. Constantly removing the spool , and cutting the line that somehow continued to reel in under the spool.. I call St.Croix and was told that it was the fluorocarbon line that i had put on.. not the reel. I had my son and other daughter using their original reels not Seviin reels and they NEVER had a problem all reels had the exact same line on.. Oh, I forgot to mention that my daughter that bought the Seviin reel as well had the EXACT same issues.. most of her day was spent doing the same thing. One thing that her reel did that mine did not do was when she was reeling in there was like a dead spot in the reel in motion that made it extremely difficult to reel in. It was not smooth at all..
Moral of the story.. do not buy a Seviin reel. And i was also told that it is not a St Croix problem , take it back to the dealer that i bought it from. Rods yes, reels never again.

disappointed

I recently purchased two Seviin GF spinning reels for a big fishing trip to an exclusive trout club. I have trusted St. Croix for many years with rods, so I thought I would give them a chance on their new reels. Prior to the fishing trip I tested out my new reel in a local stream and had one issue that I thought was a fluke or human error. My line was getting stuck under my spool and it would continue to twist around under the spool until I could take apart the reel and pull the line out from under the spool. I didn't think much of it and just thought it was my fault. So my dad and I both used these reels for the fishing trip we spent around 200 on. Basically we wasted half the day messing with the reel and trying to fix it. The same problem had happened to my dad and I. multiple times throughout the day the line would get stuck under the reel, and the only way to fix it would be to take the whole reel apart and cut the line and restring the rod. Not only is this a huge waste of time, this was a huge waste of line. Both of us had just had the reels restrung with fresh line and by the end of the day there was no more line on the reel. Another problem that happened was the my reel handle was sticking. It was getting stuck when trying to reel in which really messed with how I was fishing and my ability to set the hook. Overall I was very disappointed and would not recommend anyone to purchase a Seviin reel.

Seems to be a very good reel, Tight and very smooth. I can't find anything negative about it. For the money I don't think you could go wrong.

Need back spin option

I agree with a previous poster that not having a back spin option is kind of a deal breaker for another purchase. I have not fished with this reel yet, so my review is on the functionality only at this time.

Awesome

💜 love these new reels from seviin. Just hitting the market with top of the line gear great price best gear awesome

CARBON-FIBER / POLYMER CONSTRUCTION

A molded polymer body infused with carbon fiber greatly increases strength and stiffness. This provides an extremely lightweight body, side cover, and rotor system that’s super rigid and won’t flex under heavy loads. The entire drive train is perfectly aligned to maintain smoothness and sensitivity over time.

SLOW OSCILLATION SYSTEM

The S-Curve design features a super-slow oscillation that ensures line is stacked evenly on the spool resulting in longer casts and fewer line management issues even when using lighter finesse size lines. An internal support guide ensures spool oscillation remains consistent even under heavier drag loads.

BRAID-READY FORGED SPOOL

One-piece forged aluminum spool is machined and hard anodized. The forged design minimizes weight while maintaining strength. A braid band allows the use of braid tied directly to the spool without the need for backing. A unique spool lip design maximizes casting distance by minimizing line contact during the cast.

CARBON FIBER DRAG

The friction washers are made from woven carbon fiber, which is virtually impervious to wear. The carbon washers are mated to stainless steel washers providing a wide drag range with minimal variation to protect against break-offs with lighter lines.
